President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Pam Bondi, former Florida Attorney General, as his nominee for the position of Attorney General. Bondi, a staunch supporter of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, made a bold statement last year, expressing her determination to eradicate the “deep state” within the U.S. Department of Justice once Trump  returns to the White House. She firmly believes that under his leadership, the prosecutors who have acted unjustly will face the consequences of their actions.

Trump selected Bondi as his nominee after his initial choice, former U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), had to withdraw. Both Democratic and Republican senators expressed doubts about Gaetz’s confirmation due to ongoing investigations into allegations of engaging in sexual activities with a minor, potential involvement in sex trafficking, and suspected illicit drug use. Additionally, Gaetz faced scrutiny regarding potential campaign finance violations.

In 2023, Bondi confidently expressed to Fox News host Sean Hannity that once Republicans regain control of the White House, there will be significant repercussions. She stated, “You know what’s gonna happen? The Department of Justice will take action and ensure that the prosecutors responsible for any wrongdoing will be held accountable.”

“The investigators who were involved in the previous administration will now face their own investigation. According to the speaker, they operated clandestinely as part of the deep state during President Trump’s term. However, their actions are now under scrutiny and will be exposed to the public. The speaker emphasized the need to thoroughly  investigation these individuals and remove any corrupt elements from the system. The upcoming term presents an opportunity to clean house and hold those accountable for their actions.”

During a segment on CNN’s “Out Front,” Erin Burnett highlighted that Bondi has expressed her alignment with Trump on the issue of the politicization of the Justice Department.

According to her observations, Bondi has played a significant role in advocating for Trump during the 2020 election. She actively promoted Trump’s false claims about winning Pennsylvania and emphasized the importance of ensuring a fair and thorough vote count. However, it is worth noting that Trump did not actually win Pennsylvania.

Burnett added that she was one of Trump’s top defenders during his criminal trial in New York.

According to Rolling Stone, Bondi has previously demonstrated support for taking action against Trump’s political opponents. Back in 2016, during Trump’s campaign, she advocated for the revocation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s security clearance. Additionally, she encouraged and fueled the chants of “lock her up” from supporters at the Republican National Convention.

“I absolutely love it when they chant ‘Lock her up!'” she enthusiastically exclaimed to the crowd.

Byron Donalds expressed his lack of surprise at being excluded from Trump’s predominantly white administration.

According to ABC News, Bondi registered with the government of Qatar as a foreign agent for her lobbying efforts.

Special Counsel Jack Smith prosecuted Donald Trump in two separate cases. One case involved Trump’s alleged actions related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The second case involved Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified and top secret documents, including sensitive nuclear and defense information.

According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Trump has been found guilty in a state criminal trial for “falsifying New York business records to hide his illegal plan to undermine the 2016 election.”

According to WMAL, Trump is currently facing prosecution in Georgia for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in that state. The case is still ongoing.

A federal judge appointed by Trump in 2020, who was confirmed just before he left office, dismissed Trump’s classified documents case, which was largely prosecuted under the Espionage Act.

The Special Counsel is currently wrapping up his work following Trump’s victory in the presidential election. It is important to note that sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted, and it is highly likely that Trump’s Attorney General would dismiss the case.
