A New Jersey family was brought into custody and charged with homicide in connection with the death of a family friend. E. Hanah, 55, and his 17-year-old son, who was not identified owing to his age, have both been charged with homicide and firearms violations in connection with the victim’s fatal beating.
According to New Jersey authorities, the fight was sparked by the defendant’s kid allegedly assaulting the victim’s child the day before. To address the situation, the victim and his daughter went to the defendant’s home in New Jersey. Upon arriving, there was a physical altercation.
According to authorities, the defendant’s son sustained facial injuries before punching the victim in the face and repeatedly striking him in the head with a metal baseball bat.
The defendant (SEE PHOTO) then reportedly participated in the assault, beating the victim in the back of the head with a metal flashlight. The victim’s daughter also sustained a head injury during the turmoil.
Emergency personnel took the man to a local hospital and planned to airlift him to another hospital. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries on the way.
The defendants were arrested on the same day. The county jail currently holds her, while a juvenile institution holds a member of her family. The defendant’s son is also facing an extra aggravated assault allegation stemming from the initial incident involving the victim’s daughter.
The investigation is still underway, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Detective FixIer of the local police department at 856-691-4111.
The victim’s younger brother revealed that the two families had previously been close friends. He identified the defendant as a lifetime family friend, saying that the man attended school with his oldest brother and had known him his entire life. The family members never expected such an event to happen.
