Dario Fortunato-Torres, 38, a Mexican resident with a history of deportations, was sentenced to time served in federal court yesterday for illegally reentering the United States, according to Acting US Attorney Troy Rivetti. Nora Barry Fischer, Senior United States District Judge, delivered the sentence on April 28, 2025.
Fortunato-Torres was removed from the United States seven times between 2013 and 2017, according to court records.
His most recent encounter with law enforcement happened on October 8, 2024, when he was apprehended by the Moon Township Police Department for driving offenses, which were later withdrawn, according to public records.
Following this arrest, immigration officials found that Fortunato-Torres was unlawfully present in the country and detained him on November 19, 2024. Since then, he has been in custody.
Rebecca L. Silinski, Assistant US Attorney, represented the government in this case. Fortunato-Torres will be remanded to immigration custody once his term is completed.
