D.C. police said they detained someone on Friday for stabbing and killing an 83-year-old lady in Northwest.
According to a news release from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), officers responded to the 1300 block of Missouri Ave. shortly before noon to conduct a welfare check.
Officers from the MPD arrived to find Sandra Mundle, 83, stabbed. DC Fire and EMS responded, but she died at the scene.
Officers subsequently arrested Christopher Holness, 31, and charged him with second-degree murder while armed.
The MPD stated that the murder was a domestic incident.
