The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of robberies involving multiple suspects.

In May, five individuals in northwest Harris County were targeted in a setup where suspects used social media to lure victims to meet-ups. So far, 21-year-old Cianna Mims is the only person arrested and charged, while investigators continue searching for at least three more suspects.

Mims is accused of orchestrating the setup, allegedly luring the victim while the other suspects waited for her signal. At the time of the robbery, she was already out on bond for a separate high-profile hit-and-run case in Galveston County that resulted in the death of a well-known doctor.

Authorities say Mims was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run that killed 67-year-old Nancy Hughes on March 18, 2022. Her then-boyfriend, Logan Llewellyn, was driving and later pleaded guilty to an accident involving death, receiving a seven-year prison sentence. Mims was indicted shortly after for allegedly attempting to cover up the crime.

In the robbery case, court records reveal that Mims faces five counts of aggravated robbery. Investigators allege she set up her own friend, arranging a meeting at his apartment on Wortham Boulevard near FM 1960 and U.S. 290 on May 8.

As Mims left the apartment, a gunman reportedly appeared with an AK-47-style rifle, robbing the victim. The suspects then waited for the victim’s friends to arrive and robbed them as well.

Prosecutors argued in court that Mims should be denied bond, citing her history of being on bail for an indicted felony at the time of the robbery. Despite this, a judge granted her bond.

Investigators believe Mims may have committed similar social media-related robberies between April and November.

Her next court date is scheduled for January, and the charges she faces in Harris County may only be the beginning. Authorities urge anyone with information or who may be a victim to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
