A homicide investigation by Indiana State Police has been initiated after a body was discovered in a ditch off I-65 in northwest Indiana on Friday morning.

What we know so far: According to police, a body was discovered by a cleanup crew around 9:20 a.m. near the ramp from U.S. 231 to southbound I-65 in Crown Point, Ind.
Troopers and detectives arrived at the scene promptly and immediately suspected foul play, initiating a thorough investigation into the incident as a potential homicide.
What we lack knowledge about: The deceased is a male, but authorities have not yet disclosed his identity. They are awaiting positive identification and notifying his family. The cause of death is still uncertain.
Next Steps: The Lake County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy on the remains.
According to state police, the investigation is still ongoing, but there is no ongoing threat to the public.
