On Tuesday, January 21, the police made an arrest of three Bronx residents following a routine traffic stop. The officers discovered that the car the suspects were traveling in had been stolen.
Fifth Squad detectives reported that at 3:20 p.m., a black 2017 Honda heading northbound on Woodfield Road in West Hempstead was pulled over by officers. The reason for the stop was an unsafe lane change made by the vehicle.
Officers investigating the incident discovered that the Honda had been reported stolen.
The police arrested the driver, Brailyn Jaquez Perez, 23, of West Merrick Road, along with the passengers Luis Joel Batlle Espinosa, 19, and Adamarie Burgos, 20, both of the Bronx. The arrest was made without any incident, according to the authorities.
Authorities have stated that all three individuals are being charged with criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Police have reported that Jaquez Perez is now facing additional charges for aggravated unlicensed operation and multiple traffic violations.
On Tuesday, January 21, the trio appeared in court at First District Court in Hempstead to face arraignment.
