In Beaumont, Texas, three men have been indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury following the shocking murder that was captured on the victim’s Ring home security camera.

At around 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, a heartbreaking video captures the tragic moment when 39-year-old Ebonie Gilbert courageously steps outside to investigate a commotion, only to be brutally shot down without warning.

According to CBS affiliate KFDM, the police reported that she managed to return to her home after being shot. Tragically, she collapsed and passed away there.

D’Corey Shillow, 21 (above right), Javonta Turner, 21 (above center), and Tydrick Davis, 20 (above left), all face charges of capital murder. According to investigators, Shillow is believed to be the gunman responsible for shooting and killing Gilbert. The incident occurred when Gilbert discovered the three men attempting to burglarize her car outside her residence.

The court documents, which have been reviewed by KFDM, reveal that Shillow has confessed to his participation in her death. In his admission, he implicates both Turner and Davis as his partners in the crime.

Three men indicted for the murder of Ebonie Gilbert

During the investigation, the individual stated that he had handed over the clothing he had been wearing on the night in question to Turner. This information was later verified by the police, who discovered the clothing at Turner’s residence. Subsequently, Turner was apprehended.

According to the arrest affidavit for Davis, he shared with a witness that he had been in the company of Shillow and Turner during the time of Gilbert’s death. It is suspected that Turner may be the second gunman involved in the shooting, as reported by KBMT.

Gilbert’s mother made a chilling discovery the next day when she went to visit her daughter after failing to reach her. Gilbert revealed to the authorities that this was not the first time she had endured such a heartbreaking ordeal. Back in 2008, she had to face the devastating loss of another daughter who had passed away from a heart attack.

According to KFDM, Shillow’s mother reported him to the police. The news station captured the moment when he was being escorted from the Beaumont Police Department headquarters to the jail.

When the news station approached Shillow and asked if he had any words for Gilbert’s mother, he expressed his condolences by saying, “Miss Ebonie, I’m truly sorry for your loss.” As he was being placed inside the police car, he reiterated, “I want to make it clear that I am not a punk nor a monster.”

During his interview with the news station, he made it clear that he was not present at the time of the incident and had no part in it. When it came to the victim’s family, he had nothing to say. However, he did have a message for his own family, expressing his apologies for subjecting them to such distress, and emphatically stating that he would no longer engage in any further discussion on the matter.

Shillow had her bond set at $750,000, while Davis and Turner had their bonds set at $800,000 each. In Turner’s case, the judge also ordered him to wear a GPS monitor, stay in Jefferson County, and have no contact with the co-defendants.
