A high-speed chase involving numerous law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of two individuals after a two-day series of events across New York.

On April 16, 2025, around 11:16 p.m., state police responded to State Route 190 in Plattsburgh to assist US Customs and Border Protection with a vehicle pursuit. Authorities spotted a gray 2019 Chevrolet racing southbound. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, State Police, and Customs and Border Protection chased the car, which lost control near the intersection of State Route 190 and State Route 374 and left the road.

Two suspects escaped into a wooded area, sparking a foot chase. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department captured one suspect, 25-year-old Peter Ibrahim Habib Soliman of Staten Island, New York. Soliman was transported to the US Customs and Border Protection for interrogation. The search for the second occupant was initially ineffective.

The following morning, April 17, 2025, at around 7:28 a.m., State Police responded to a vehicle theft report at Stewart’s Shop on State Route 9 in Plattsburgh. An unknown person stole a white 2016 Chevrolet and headed south on State Route 9. State Police found the vehicle on Interstate 87 in Schroon, but the suspect eluded a traffic stop, prompting another pursuit.

The pursuit continued into Warren County, where State Police Troop G seized control. Troopers used a tire deflation device to halt the car on Interstate 87 in Lake George. The man fled on foot but was eventually caught by state police along the highway. He was identified as Onyx Calderon, 24, of Paterson, New Jersey.

Following the initial incident, Soliman found Calderon to be the second passenger who left with him. Calderon was detained at SP Queensbury and charged with several felonies, including third-degree criminal possession of stolen items, third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and felony burglary. He also received several traffic violations.

The offenses and several warrants from other jurisdictions led to Calderon’s arraignment in Warren County CAP Court and his transfer to the Warren County Correctional Facility. State Police Troop B has applied for an arrest warrant to continue their investigation.
