A Bellwood man is charged with attempted murder after reportedly shooting another man during a brawl on Chicago’s West Side, police said Monday.
Soon before 8 a.m. on Sunday, authorities arrested James Hill, 40, in the North Lawndale neighborhood’s 3800 block of West 14th Street.
Police claim he shot a 35-year-old man in the leg just minutes before, following a verbal altercation that escalated into violence.
Mount Sinai Hospital received the patient and listed their condition as fair.
The perpetrator and victim’s relationship is unclear, but authorities say they know each other.
Hill has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated violence with a firearm, both felonies.
He has a detention hearing planned for Tuesday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse.
