Houston police are asking for help identifying a woman who attacked a rideshare driver last month and fled with his car keys.
It happened around 4:50 p.m. on May 21, 2024, on the 1000 block of Banks Street, just south of the Museum District.
According to investigators, the driver was giving a woman a ride when she unexpectedly opened the back door of the moving car. Concerned for her safety, the driver advised her not to do so. She reportedly dismissed it, advising him to relax because no cars were approaching.
That’s when the driver decided to stop and cancel the ride. He urged the passenger to get out, but police claim she resisted and hit him in the face instead. The woman then snatched his car keys and ran away, leaving the driver stranded.
The suspect is still on the run. HPD’s Robbery Division detectives believe she is a Hispanic lady who was last seen wearing a light-colored sports bra and black jeans.
