Less than a month after Chicago police solved a serial rape case in Logan Square, there is a new predator to be concerned about. This time, the attacks are centered in West Ridge, just west of Rogers Park.
In a new community advisory, CPD warns of a masked guy who uses a knife to rob and sexually assault women inside and around their homes at night. Four women have been targeted since late last year.
The first recorded occurrence occurred on the day following Christmas on the 6200 block of North Bell. The man entered into a woman’s first-floor apartment around 2:50 a.m. and “made unlawful sexual contact” with her while armed with a knife, according to the alert. He snatched the woman’s keys and PlayStation before departing.
Around 11:29 p.m. on January 25, a man confronted a woman walking inside her home in the 2300 block of West Arthur with a knife. The notice stated that he robbed the victim, but no sex crimes were linked to the attack.
He attacked again at 9:20 p.m. on March 25 in the 6200 block of North Oakley. According to CPD, the man brandished a knife and confronted another woman as she entered her home. He robbed her and “committed unlawful sexual contact” before fleeing the scene on a bike with large tires.
A woman was recently targeted in the 6100 block of North Campbell at about 8:55 p.m. on April 25. Once again, a woman was walking inside her home when the man confronted her with a knife, “committed unlawful sexual contact,” and stole her belongings.
The suspect was described by CPD as a Black male between the ages of 23 and 35, standing 5’8 “to 6’1”. He normally wears a dark sweatshirt, dark jeans, and dark shoes, with a mask covering half of his face. The first victim stated that the man may have had facial tattoos.
