Police have apprehended multiple suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred at Rite Aid Pharmacy on Claremont Avenue in Ashland at 7:34 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspects were taken into custody after a pursuit that culminated on Interstate 270 close to Cemetery Road in Columbus.

According to a news release from Ashland Police Chief David Lay on Thursday afternoon, witnesses reported a robbery at Rite Aid, and three males were seen fleeing the scene on foot. They were later picked up by a Silver Ford Escape. Ashland Police promptly responded to the situation.

A high-speed pursuit was triggered by the police when they spotted a Silver Ford Escape racing at a remarkable speed in the 1600 block of Claremont Avenue.

As per the news release, the suspects hurled empty pill bottles from their vehicle during the chase.

According to Lay, the pursuit persisted through Ashland County and onto southbound Interstate 71. The Ohio Highway Patrol’s Mansfield post also joined in on the chase near Ohio 13. OSP ultimately led the pursuit until it came to a halt on I-270 close to Cemetery Road.

The Ashland County Jail, with the help of neighboring agencies, successfully apprehended the suspects who are currently under arrest. The Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing the charges against them.

All of the suspects were young adults, ranging from 23 to 29 years old. They resided in different areas including Huber Heights, Trotwood, and Dayton.

The authorities are still conducting an investigation into the matter.

If you have any non-emergency information or witnessed anything suspicious, please feel free to reach out to the Ashland Police at 419-289-1911. They are always ready to assist you in any way they can.
