On Friday, U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani revealed that a postal worker, aged 35, has admitted to stealing from customers on her delivery route.

Laura Aguirre, a former postal clerk who was entrusted with the task of storing and delivering mail, has been charged with theft of mail as a postal employee. The 35-year-old stands accused of committing this offense.

After conducting an internal investigation, authorities found that Aguirre had been opening mail and taking items such as cash and gift cards worth a minimum of $2,500. As a result, charges were filed against him.

On November 1, Aguirre will be sentenced after pleading guilty to the charges. If found guilty, she could face up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
