The warmest and most humid air of the year thus far will serve as a trigger for a new round of thunderstorms, along with heavy downpours and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
The system will arrive in the late afternoon and evening of Thursday, June 5, when temperatures will reach the upper 80s and even 90 degrees in some areas.
According to AccuWeather meteorologists, the likely storm range extends from northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania to most of New York, all of Connecticut and Massachusetts, and into northern New England. (See image above.)
The National Weather Service predicts that a warming trend will begin on Tuesday, June 3, and continue throughout the week.
This increases the probability of more showers and storms beyond Thursday’s system—on both Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7, with the most likely timing in the evening on both days.
