Rain and Storms Bring Warmer Weather Through the Weekend

Today, expect mostly cloudy skies with a few passing showers. The temperatures will reach the upper 50s to near 60.

On Friday, the rain will intensify and spread across the day, starting in the morning in West Alabama. There will be a band of moderate to heavy rain, with a few intense downpours, gradually moving across the state. Although this is not expected to be a severe weather event, there is a possibility of localized flooding due to the slow movement of the rain. For those attending the Birmingham Bowl, be prepared for periods of rain with temperatures ranging from the lower 50s to the lower 60s.

On the weekend, there will be showers persisting intermittently throughout the day on Saturday. Later in the evening, there will be a round of heavier rain accompanied by a few strong to borderline severe storms, primarily occurring on Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Although the severity of these storms is expected to be relatively low, some of them may produce gusty winds. The rainfall will taper off during the day on Sunday. Despite the rainy conditions, the weather will remain mild with afternoon temperatures reaching the 60s.

Next week’s weather forecast is looking quite promising. We can expect dry, warm, and pleasant conditions leading into New Year’s Week. The temperatures during the afternoons will reach the 60s on Monday and Tuesday. However, as we approach New Year’s Day, the weather will gradually turn colder.
