Drivers in Southeast Texas need to be ready for dense fog that will cover the region on Thursday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a warning, stating that visibility on major highways like I-45, I-10, and Beltway 8 will greatly decrease before 10 a.m. Patchy fog has already been observed overnight and is expected to worsen during peak commuting hours. Motorists are encouraged to slow down and maintain a safe distance between vehicles, particularly in low-lying areas where the fog is expected to be thicker.

The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts that the fog will dissipate by mid-morning, leading to clear skies and a high temperature of around 85°F. However, until then, it is crucial for drivers to be extra careful, especially on US-59 and Beltway 8, where visibility may drop to less than a quarter mile. The NWS advises drivers to switch on their low-beam headlights and avoid using cruise control in foggy weather. This advice is particularly crucial on busy roads like I-610 and near intersections where unexpected stops could happen.

Thursday night will bring mostly clear skies and temperatures cooling to the mid-60s. The pleasant weather will persist through the weekend, with Saturday reaching a high of 87°F. There is no rain in the forecast, ensuring a warm and sunny weekend for Houston residents. Despite the earlier fog-related hazards, the coming days will offer comfortable and clear conditions.
