The Florida Lottery recently announced that Miozotis Quintana of Cutler Bay won a $1 million top prize in the Platinum Mine 9X scratch-off game.
The Miami-Dade County woman chose to receive her prize in one lump sum payment of $605,016.
The South Florida winner won $1 million after purchasing her winning ticket from Publix, which is located at 20951 Old Cutler Road in Cutler Bay. The store got a $2,000 additional commission for selling the winning scratch-off ticket.
She went to the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee to receive her winnings.
PLATINUM MINE 9X, a $5 scratch-off game, debuted in December 2024 and offers four top prizes of $1 million and 20 prizes of $10,000. This game also offers over $66.3 million in total cash prizes. According to the Florida Lottery, only two top rewards remain.
The game’s overall chances of victory are 1 in 3.93.
Scratch-off games are a key part of the lottery’s range of games, accounting for over 74% of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024. Furthermore, since its establishment, scratch-off games have paid out more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and raised more than $19.80 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery is responsible for more than $48 billion in education funding and sending over 983,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The Florida Lottery reinvests 99 percent of its money back into the state’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to over 13,600 Lottery stores, and educational transfers. Since 1988, Florida Lottery games have given out approximately $98.6 billion in prizes, making more than 4,200 millionaires.
