A Braddock man was arrested last week in connection with a large-scale fentanyl trafficking operation discovered by the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
According to police, the investigation lasted from September 2024 to March 2025 and focused on large-scale fentanyl distribution in and around Venango County. Sugarcreek Borough Police say officers worked as task force detectives alongside state agents to identify important fentanyl suppliers and sources in the region, with Mayor Carlson’s approval.
Authorities said Dashawn Derril Scott, 31, was part of a network that transported fentanyl from outside the county into local areas. According to them, the substance caused overdoses and was aimed at residents who were struggling with addiction.
Scott was apprehended in Braddock on May 15 and returned to Venango County, where he was charged before Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey.
Bail was denied due to issues with several arrest warrants, flight risk, and public safety.
Scott was transferred to Venango County Prison, where he is due to appear for a preliminary hearing on May 21.
He is facing 38 accusations, including six felony counts of possession with intent to supply fentanyl, six felony counts of conspiracy to deliver fentanyl, and many counts of criminal use of communication devices, possession of controlled narcotics, and drug paraphernalia.
The investigation was supported by the Venango County District Attorney’s Office.
