After apprehending a suspect during a road rage incident, deputies in southwest Georgia are urging drivers to remain calm.
On January 30, just before 2 p.m., Lee County officers responded to a road rage incident in the 700 block of US 19 south.
Leesburg police said they discovered the suspect’s automobile in the 200 block of US 19 North and identified him as William Jackson Hood.
According to deputies, Hood purposefully slammed the victim’s car with his silver Toyota Scion. According to Lee County investigators, Hood inflicted significant damage to the victim’s vehicle’s back end.
Hood was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office urges motorists to remain calm and patient while driving.
“We encourage drivers to practice defensive driving techniques and to avoid engaging with aggressive drivers. If you encounter a situation that escalates, it is best to disengage and contact law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office said.
