Two individuals wanted in connection with a Minnesota homicide have been arrested in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, according to state police.
The murder happened on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
James Earl Hamilton, 39, was fatally shot in Moorhead, Minnesota.
The suspect, Jerome Anthony Thomas III, allegedly fled the scene in a green Chevrolet Trax with temporary Indiana registration T194928, according to a Moorhead Police Department announcement. According to police, the suspect also fired shots at another person.
Investigators found that Thomas could be hiding in the Ishpeming region and contacted Michigan State Police for assistance.
In connection with the investigation, arrest warrants were filed for Thomas and 32-year-old Abby Nicole Fredrickson. The suspects were found by Michigan State Police during a traffic stop on M-28 at N. 2nd Street in Ishpeming Township on Monday morning.
The two suspects were arrested without incident. They are currently detained in the Marquette County Jail and are awaiting extradition.
Thomas was accused as follows:
- Second-degree murder with intent not premeditated
- Second-degree murder in a drive-by shooting
- Attempted second-degree murder while committing a drive-by shooting
- Attempted second-degree murder
The 32-year-old woman, his alleged accomplice, faces charges of second-degree murder assistance.
“This is an active, ongoing multi-jurisdictional investigation, that spans several states,” according to a release from the Moorhead Police Department. “There is no longer a threat to public safety. The Moorhead Police Department would like to thank the Ishpeming Police Department, the Michigan State Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for their continued assistance.”
