Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing a second doctor in the Dallas area for allegedly giving children “gender transition” medications illegally.

As Paxton implements Senate Bill 14, a Texas statute that prohibits the administration of such medical procedures to individuals under the age of 18, this case is the third of its type. According to the Texas Attorney General, the statute went into effect in September 2023 and was affirmed by the Texas Supreme Court in June 2024.

The Texas Attorney General claims that there is strong scientific proof that “gender transition” medications have detrimental long-term impacts on youngsters.

According to the announcement, a doctor was recently found guilty of continuing to administer these treatments on September 25 in contravention of SB 14’s legal limits. Additionally, according to Paxton’s office, the doctor concealed their unlawful activities by using dishonest record-keeping techniques.

SB 14 forbids physicians in Texas from performing procedures to change a minor’s sex traits or prescribing hormones or puberty blockers. Medical practitioners who break the law risk consequences, such as losing their license to practice medicine. “These medical professionals cannot willfully ignore the law and endanger the health of young people,” said Attorney General Paxton.

Supporters of the law claim it shields children from irreversible procedures, while opponents contend it violates approved medical standards for transgender youngsters, according to the Texas Attorney General. The measure is part of a larger discussion regarding healthcare for transgender minors.
