Authorities in Texas are urgently requesting public assistance in identifying two men who have gone missing under circumstances that necessitate the use of Silver Alerts, a system developed expressly to aid in the search for older adults with reported mental conditions.
Fox San Antonio reports on the disappearance of 74-year-old Jose Puga.
Puga, who has black hair and brown eyes, was last seen at 8 a.m. last Sunday on the 1400 block of East Van Buren Street in Brownsville.
His outfit currently was a blue shirt with khaki slacks, a brown belt, and gray and blue tennis shoes.
To quickly locate Puga, the Brownsville Police Department is requesting that anyone who sees him phone 911 right away.
With the Silver Alert system in place, there is more possibility of rapidly bringing him home.
In a similar vein, the Sachse community is searching for Richard Pivonka, a 70-year-old white guy who went missing last Friday, according to The Statesman. Pivonka was described as having white hair and blue eyes, and his last known vehicle was a blue 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with the Texas license plate JDC0286.
The Silver Alert system, which is similar to the AMBER Alert but designed for the elderly, is critical in the hunt for such individuals. Texas established it in 2007 to help inform and assist the people. The Brownsville Police Department has issued a contact number, (956) 548-7014, for anyone with information on Jose Puga’s whereabouts, while anyone with information on Richard Pivonka can contact the Sachse Police Department at (972) 495-2271.
