Special interest illegal immigrants from Middle Eastern countries continue to flood the southwest border.
By Will Biagini | December 2, 2024 – As large caravans of migrants advance through Mexico, foreign nationals from Middle Eastern countries, identified as “special interest” individuals, are now entering Texas.
Incoming border czar Tom Homan revealed Saturday on X that seven special interest illegal aliens were found among a larger group of foreign nationals apprehended in Maverick County.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security defines “special interest” aliens as noncitizens considered potential national security threats.
The full group, totaling 289 illegal aliens, crossed into Eagle Pass, Texas. Of those, seven special interest aliens were from Iran.
“Additionally, three illegal aliens attempted to evade arrest but were captured,” Homan stated. “Two of those who tried to escape were wearing cartel wristbands. Troopers arrested the smuggling guide from Mexico and charged him with human smuggling.”
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Lt. Chris Olivarez posted on X that another 166 illegal aliens were also apprehended in Maverick County, including five from both Iran and Turkey.
DPS agents have also encountered special interest illegal aliens from African countries. Last month, a group of 211 illegal aliens—six of whom were from Mali and Angola—crossed into Eagle Pass.
