Governor Greg Abbott has taken action to ensure the safety of Texas residents in the face of impending severe weather conditions. By activating the state’s emergency response resources, he is proactively addressing the potential risks and ensuring that necessary measures are in place to protect the affected areas.

Parts of North, Central, East, and Southeast Texas have experienced or are anticipated to experience strong to severe storms.

According to the National Weather Service, there are several risks associated with the current weather conditions. These risks include the potential for large hail, damaging wind, flash flooding, and even the possibility of tornadoes.

Thursday is an important day to stay alert, as there is a storm warning issued by FOX 26. During the day, there is a possibility of experiencing heavy rain, lightning, hail, and damaging winds. It is crucial to be prepared and aware of the situation.

The Texas Department of Emergency Management has mobilized Texas A&M Task Force 1, a group equipped with swiftwater rescue boat squads, to aid in flood rescues.

Texas A&M Task Force 1 and Texas Task Force 2 have put their urban search and rescue teams on standby.

Governor Abbott stated that Texas is ready to provide any necessary resources to assist local officials in addressing severe weather threats. He emphasized the importance of regularly monitoring road conditions, creating an emergency plan, and following the guidance of state and local authorities, especially as Texans and out-of-state visitors resume their travels after the Christmas holiday. The Governor expressed his gratitude towards all emergency response personnel for their dedicated efforts in helping fellow Texans during these storms.
