Texas Police Capture Notorious 'Saw Bandit' from Louisiana

Authorities have announced the arrest of the infamous ‘Saw Bandit’ in Texas, bringing an end to his reign of crime in Louisiana.

On Thursday, December 12th, local authorities arrested Alfred Roy Cobb, a member of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, at a U-Haul facility.

According to Fox 8, authorities are currently making arrangements to bring Cobb back to St. John the Baptist Parish. Once he is brought back, Cobb will be charged with simple burglary and criminal access to an ATM.

Cobb is also facing charges in East Baton Rouge Parish, Livingston Parish, and Tangipahoa Parish.

The authorities are still searching for the Baton Rouge man known as ‘The Saw Bandit’ in connection with almost 10 ATM burglaries.

Alfred Roy Cobb is being sought after by four different law enforcement agencies throughout the state, according to the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office.

Cobb finds himself on the top of Tangipahoa Parish’s most wanted list.

Cobb earned his notorious nickname when surveillance videos captured him utilizing a powerful chainsaw to gain unauthorized entry into numerous ATMs spanning four different parishes.

Danielle Lucas, the cousin and accomplice of Cobb, was discovered to have multiple saw blades in her possession. She confessed to driving Cobb to various locations and is currently being held in custody at the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

Total Robberies and Attempted Break-ins:

Cobb is accused of committing or attempting various crimes, which are outlined below.

    1. August 24 – Family Dollar on Burbank Drive in Baton Rouge: ATM stolen with over $3,000 inside.
    2. August 27 – Family Dollar on O’Neal Lane in Baton Rouge: ATM pried open after power was turned off.
    3. September 8 – Traffic stop led to the discovery of a stolen van with a concrete saw, tied to the previous ATM robberies.
    4. Late September – Family Dollar on Old Hammond Highway in Baton Rouge: ATM with saw marks and loose bills scattered around.
    5. October 8 – Shopper’s Value store break-in in Baton Rouge: Doors smashed, but nothing taken.
    6. October 13 – Express OMV on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge: Windows busted, loud alarms went off, suspects fled.
    7. October 16 – Tangipahoa Parish Family Dollar ATMs (two similar cases reported).
    8. October 17 – Credit union ATM hit in St. John Parish, linked to vehicles from previous incidents.
    9. October 22  – Family Dollar ATM in Livingston Parish cut open with a saw.

Authorities in Southeast Louisiana are currently on the hunt for Alfred Cobb, also known as “The Saw Bandit,” who is wanted for a series of ATM break-ins. These break-ins have involved the use of a heavy-duty saw.

According to WBRZ, the Sheriff’s deputies in East Baton Rouge, St. John, Livingston, and Tangipahoa parishes have been actively pursuing 42-year-old Cobb. He is accused of breaking into ATMs at various locations such as Family Dollar stores, credit unions, and other businesses. As he carries out these illegal activities, he leaves behind damaged machines and a trail of broken glass.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office recently released surveillance footage of an incident that occurred on October 12. In the footage, a man can be seen attempting to saw into an ATM outside a store in LaPlace. Although he was unsuccessful in accessing the cash inside, the suspect caused considerable damage to the machine, as reported by WBRZ.

In the past, Cobb has managed to pull off several successful heists. One notable incident occurred on August 24 when surveillance footage caught a group of suspects entering a Family Dollar on Burbank Drive after closing time. Using a saw, they were able to detach the base of a machine and reportedly made away with a sum of over $3,000. Although their recent attempt may have been unsuccessful, Cobb has proven to be quite skilled in his previous endeavors.

During that week, there was a similar incident at another Family Dollar store located on O’Neal Lane. In this case, the perpetrators intentionally turned off the power to the building, thereby disabling the security cameras. This information was reported by East Baton Rouge Parish.

A month later, another incident of ATM burglaries took place at a Family Dollar store on Old Hammond Highway. The scene was described as having large saw marks and dust surrounding the ATM, with loose bills scattered around the area. Surveillance footage captured two individuals exiting a stolen black Kia Soul before proceeding to break into the store.

Livingston Parish deputies recently discovered that Cobb is linked to other cases involving ATM break-ins at dollar stores. Additionally, Cobb’s cousin, Danielle Lucas, was allegedly found in possession of multiple saw blades and confessed to driving Cobb to various locations where he committed the break-ins.

Cobb, who had been convicted of attempted armed robbery, is currently on probation until 2025.
