A heat wave is forecast to hit Texas this week, breaking records in several cities.
A ridge of high pressure is forecast to come into the Lone Star State from Northern Mexico on Tuesday and remain until Thursday.
During that time, several regions of Texas will have higher temperatures than some of the world’s hottest places.

This week’s heat wave will drive temperatures into the triple digits.

Del Rio, in southwestern Texas, is anticipated to have the highest temperature.

FOX 7 meteorologists in Austin predict a high of 103 degrees in the capital on Wednesday.
The Dallas-Fort Worth forecast team predicts that temperatures will reach 100 by mid-week.
Temperatures in the Sahara Desert will occasionally be hotter than in Death Valley, California, and Ouadane, Mauritania.
This week’s heat will bring temperatures beyond 100 degrees far sooner than typical.

Typically, Austin experiences its first 100-degree day on July 8.
San Antonio generally doesn’t reach the triple-digit milestone until June 30.
On average, Dallas-Fort Worth does not reach the century threshold until July 1.
