A truck driver won millions from a lottery ticket purchased while passing through North Carolina for work, officials say.
Melchor Aguilar, a truck driver from Inman, South Carolina, purchased the life-changing 200X The Cash scratch-off ticket on December 28, 2024, at Kangaroo Express on East Swannanoa Avenue in Liberty, North Carolina.
According to North Carolina Lottery officials, the $30 scratchers ticket yielded a $5 million prize.
When Aguilar arrived at lottery headquarters to claim his prize, he opted for a flat amount of $3 million rather than a $250,000 annuity over 20 years.
After taxes, Aguilar earned $2,152,508.
