A 43-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning after allegedly shooting a 13-year-old boy multiple times during an altercation over wet concrete.
Keith Holmes, 43, was arrested Wednesday at the house of a family member on North 63rd Street in Philadelphia after being sought in the April 10, 2025, shooting of a young boy following an argument on the 2000 block of South 57th Street.
Holmes was apprehended at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday after investigators discovered evidence that he was hiding out at a family member’s apartment.
He surrendered without violence, according to officials, when officers knocked on the home’s door and declared their presence.
“There is no excuse for violent crimes that occur against children,” said Robert Clark, supervisory deputy for the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in a statement on Holmes’ apprehension. “Those who commit these crimes must be held fully accountable and the Marshals Service will ensure justice is without delay,”
Holmes has been sought since April 10, 2025, when a 13-year-old kid was shot in the 2000 block of South 57th Street at 6:40 p.m., according to officials.
Officials believe that shooting erupted amid a dispute over recently laid concrete.
During that argument, “Holmes discharged a firearm, striking the 13-year-old victim multiple times,” officials claim in a statement.
Following the event, the youngster was transported to a neighboring hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Officials stated Holmes has been handed over to the custody of the Philadelphia Police Department.
