On April 18, 2025, the US Marshals Service Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force apprehended 39-year-old Samuel Douglas Conway, who was wanted for murder with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit murder.
Conway was apprehended in Holbrook, Arizona, after evading officials in St. Johns, Arizona, the day before.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a partner agency on the United States Marshals Service Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, discovered that Conway was possibly on the run in Arizona.
The Nevada task team then sought assistance from Arizona’s WANTED Violent Offender Task Team.
Conway, who has a history of violent crime and resisting arrest, was apprehended without incident around 11:20 a.m. in the 100 block of West Arizona Street. He is being detained at the Navajo County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Nevada.
District of Nevada: U.S. Marshal Gary Schofield lauded the cooperation of law enforcement agencies participating in the operation. “A violent criminal has been taken off the streets thanks to seamless law enforcement teamwork; no one was injured, and our communities are safer as a result. We congratulate all of the agencies involved for their collaboration and dedication,” Schofield added.
The operation involves a number of entities, including the Arizona Department of Corrections, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Apache County Sheriff’s Office, and others.
The Nevada Violent Offender Task Force, which includes police from several local and federal agencies, initially sought assistance from the Arizona task force after learning Conway was in the state.
