Unlicensed driver from Mexico detained after cardboard debris falls from trailer

A man from Mexico was arrested for driving without a license after cardboard debris fell from a trailer he was towing.

On Wednesday, June 18, an officer observed unsecured cardboard falling from an open-air trailer near Blitchton Road and Northwest 27th Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Ocala Police Department. He started a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, 25-year-old Angel Javier Garcia Olivares of Summerfield.

He handed over his passport and Mexican ID, saying he was working and had been in Florida for nearly a year. He used a Chase bank statement as proof of domicile at his Summerfield house. According to the report, he lacked a legal license from Mexico or any other country or state, as well as any form of US identification.

Garcia Olivares was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without a legal license. He was taken to the Marion County Jail and freed after posting a $500 bond.
