The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended a 19-year-old wanted for murder in two cities, Tarrant and Birmingham, on Wednesday.
Eddie Jordan Jr. and Javaris Russell Jr. have been charged with capital murder in the January 22 shooting death of 36-year-old Buford Troman “Pete” White.
Russell remains at large.
According to U.S. Marshal Marty Keely, members of the fugitive task team searching for Jordan were conducting surveillance on 32nd Place North earlier today when they noticed Jordan enter a blue Volkswagen Jetta.
The deputy marshals attempted to stop the car in the 2900 block of 21st Avenue North.
When the automobile halted, Jordan leaped out and ran. He was apprehended following a brief foot chase.
A short while later, we also managed to capture the female.
According to Keely, two firearms were discovered in the car, including one with a component for converting it into a machine gun.
The second gun was reported stolen.
According to officials, Jordan is also charged with a separate Birmingham killing. Details about that case were not readily accessible.
Tarrant County police announced the accusations against the youths last week and said they, together with the United States Marshals Service, were actively looking for the accused.
The Tarrant murder occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, on Mountain Drive.
A neighbor informed police that White had just backed into his driveway and left his vehicle when someone opened fire on him.
Detectives believed White was the target at the time of the homicide and fired at least 15 rounds, according to Police Chief Wendell Major. Three bullets struck White in the chest, and the vehicle bore numerous bullet holes.
White’s mother discovered him wounded and called 911. He was declared dead on the scene at 7:33 p.m.
White worked alongside his father as a concrete finisher. He was also a musician and composer.
The Major reported the seizure of money and illegal drugs at the scene.
Det. Jacob Rouse said White knew at least one of the suspects, but authorities aren’t saying how they knew each other at the moment.
Rouse’s motive is not being revealed at this time.
Investigators identified a suspect car and charged the suspects based on that knowledge and other secret facts.
