A Virginia corrections officer finds himself on the wrong side of the law.
On Friday, April 11, special agents from the VADOC’s Office of Law Enforcement Services (OLES) arrested Raekwon Robins, a former officer at Pocahontas State Correctional Center, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Corrections. According to the VADOC, Robins was arrested after confessing to previously bringing drugs into Pocahontas and stating that he planned to do so again in the near future.
OLES agents issued a search warrant at Robins’ home, resulting in the confiscation of narcotics worth more than $150,000 in prison, a revolver, and $1,000 cash.
Robins was charged with three charges of possession with intent to distribute and two counts of conspiracy to supply a controlled substance to an inmate.
“Anyone, whether they are a corrections employee or otherwise, should seriously weigh the risks of trying to smuggle drugs and contraband into one of our facilities,” said VADOC Director Chad Dotson. “VADOC OLES Special Agents and our intelligence teams are working around the clock to find you. Is a short-term gain worth potential time in prison? Consider that before you try to bring your poison into our secure facilities.”
The VADOC will not tolerate any attempts to smuggle narcotics or contraband into its facilities. Anyone with information about attempted smuggling can contact 540-830-9280.
