A Virginia man has been arrested in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, after allegedly attacking the mother of an infant and then abandoning the child in the snow. The incident took place earlier this month in Fairfax County.

Darvin Flores Caballeros, 20, is said to have fled to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, following a domestic assault incident on February 12. The incident involved him allegedly attacking and strangling the mother of a 13-day-old infant, as reported by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to officials, the mother was forced to drop the child during the assault. Subsequently, Caballeros allegedly seized the infant and escaped on foot, leaving the child in a pile of snow. Fortunately, a kind-hearted individual came to the rescue and saved the child. The mother, on the other hand, suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
Suspect arrested and faces multiple charges
Walton County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Caballeros when he exited an apartment in Santa Rosa Beach at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday. He is currently in custody, awaiting extradition to Virginia.
Caballeros is facing several charges, including malicious wounding, strangulation, child endangerment, and assault and battery.
