A woman entered a guilty plea on Tuesday for taking part in the killing of over 100 deer in Wisconsin.
Jessica Kroening, 36, pleaded guilty in Washington County court to counts of intentionally contributing to a child’s delinquency and illegally showing a deer, elk, or bear as a party to a crime. She was also charged with resisting a conservation warden, but the allegation was dismissed at the prosecutor’s request, according to online court records.
Kroening and three teenagers faced accusations of illegally killing over a hundred deer in at least three Wisconsin counties, including Fond du Lac.
They also accused Kroening and the teenagers of catching and harassing other animals, like geese and turtles, before releasing them.
According to the criminal complaint, when officials searched Kroening’s truck, they discovered firearms with serial numbers scratched off and bloody tools.
The complaint said Kroening claimed to have thrown one of the juveniles’ phones into the river, while one of the juveniles said another youngster erased all of their Snapchat photographs after learning about the investigation.
The criminal complaint states that the group shot deer to create European mounts.
We anticipate Kroening’s sentencing on May 2nd at 2:00 p.m.
