The boyfriend of a woman went to extreme measures to clip her dog’s nails, leaving her in fits of laughter.

When it comes to trimming Harlan’s nails, Chrissy from Indiana faced a challenging task. Harlan, her beloved dog, is not a fan of the process, to put it mildly. Nonetheless, Chrissy remained determined to get the job done.

On July 22, @bluegrass.brat shared a TikTok video where she revealed that they had to purchase a device to put their dog in to prevent him from biting them while trimming his nails.

According to her interview with Newsweek, her boyfriend summoned her to the kitchen to witness something Harlan was up to. She recalled, “As I scanned the ground, I couldn’t spot Harlan anywhere.”

She lifted her gaze upwards.

As the camera rolls, Chrissy’s laughter fills the air as Harlan hangs suspended high above the kitchen counter. He’s safely held in a special dog hammock designed to prevent him from turning and causing any mishaps.

Harlan remains perfectly still as Chrissy and her boyfriend, Johnny, collapse into fits of hysteric laughter. He observes the two humans crumbling into pieces around him.

According to what she told Newsweek, Johnny had a specific goal in mind when he purchased a dog hammock – to trim Harlan’s nails. In fact, she revealed that he was quite determined to accomplish this mission.

If you’re a pet owner, you know that taking care of your furry friend can come with a hefty price tag. That’s why it’s important to consider using a rewards credit card that offers benefits specifically tailored to pet owners. In the Newsweek Vault, you can find a list of the top rewards credit cards for pet owners that can help you save money on pet supplies, veterinary care, and even pet-friendly travel. So, if you want to make the most out of your pet ownership experience, be sure to check out these credit card options.

When Johnny called out to Chrissy from a different section of the house, she raised her head and noticed Harlan hanging motionless from the ceiling. Recognizing the significance of the moment, she quickly reached for her recording device to capture it.

The video quickly became a favorite among TikTok users, garnering an impressive 54 million views and 7 million likes. Fans of the video even left comments, with one user playfully asking about the brand of the “new chandelier.”

One individual commented, “This takes air travel to a whole new level of absurdity.” Another person made a jesting remark, “He appears as if he is about to be offered as a sacrifice.”

One person remarked that the dog is aware of the fact that you are finding amusement at his expense. Another person added that Harlan, the dog, is plotting his revenge.

In an interview with Newsweek, Chrissy shared that Johnny decided to hang Harlan over the kitchen counter because the ceiling hooks were strong enough to hold him. She also mentioned that some people expressed concern about trimming the dog’s nails in the kitchen, which was the reason behind Johnny’s decision.

Furthermore, the technique proved to be successful as evidenced in a subsequent video where Johnny was able to trim Harlan’s nails while they were high above the ground. Despite Harlan’s obvious displeasure, he refrained from biting.

Cutting a dog’s nails can be a stressful experience for both the owner and the pet. Many dogs, regardless of their age or breed, may have a strong aversion to the process, resulting in high levels of anxiety. In some cases, even typically calm and gentle dogs may resort to biting as a form of self-defense. This is a common issue that many dog owners face, and finding ways to alleviate the stress and make the process more comfortable for the dog can be challenging but essential for their overall well-being.

It’s possible that a dog’s fear or aggression towards certain situations or people stems from a past traumatic or painful experience. Alternatively, it could just be the dog’s natural personality.

According to an online article by the American Kennel Club, it is recommended that owners start getting their dogs accustomed to nail trimming at an early age. This can be done by handling their paws and teaching them that it’s a positive experience while they’re still young.

To ease any anxiety your dog may have when trimming their nails for the first time, it can be beneficial to allow them to sniff and touch the nail clipper while giving them treats and praise as a reward.
