A clothesless Tennessee woman reportedly evaded an attempted kidnapping attempt by jumping out of her ex-boyfriend’s moving car. A number of offenses, including aggravated assault and kidnapping, led to the arrest of Marquintis Kishun Jenkins, the 24-year-old girlfriend.
According to WKRN, the event occurred in South Nashville on Thursday, April 24. Officers arrived at a petrol station on Murfreesboro Pike around 12:45 a.m. after a burglar alarm went off. When authorities arrived, they discovered a clothesless woman in need of medical attention. The unidentified woman had sustained multiple injuries.
When interviewed by responding cops, the woman stated that she and her ex-boyfriend, Jenkins, had argued earlier in the day. As a response, Jenkins allegedly ripped her clothes and tried to strangle her. Jenkins allegedly forced her into his car after flashing an AR-style firearm at her, according to Metro police.
Jenkins allegedly informed the lady he was traveling to J. Percy Priest Lake to “watch her drown.” According to reports, the woman did not know how to swim, which made her even more scared. Jenkins allegedly hit her repeatedly while driving. According to court filings, Jenkins strangled her with both hands when the vehicle came to a halt.
Escaping
Eventually, the woman was able to jump out of Jenkins’ driving automobile onto Murfreesboro Pike. The woman apparently hid in a bush while Jenkins allegedly turned the truck around to look for her. After the coast was clear, she went to the local gas station and asked for assistance. She hid in the store until officials arrived.
The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office reported the detention of Marquintis Kishun Jenkins on April 24. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault: strangling, criminal homicide, kidnapping with a lethal weapon or object, interfering with an emergency call, theft of property, threats and harassment, and vandalism.
According to PEOPLE, Jenkins is presently being held at the Downton Detention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, on a $260,000 bond. His next court appearance is planned for Monday, April 28, in Courtroom 4B of the Birch Building, before Judge Ana L. Escobar.
