An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent robbery and assault that took place in southern Lowndes County earlier this year, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Anthony Hill Jr. was arrested on Friday, May 16, 2025, around 11:00 p.m., for unrelated driving charges. After being placed into the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, police charged Hill with robbery and violence on March 29.
Deputies responded to the incident at 1:30 a.m. on March 29 in the 100 block of Ellis Loop in Artesia. Upon arrival, they discovered a person with severe facial injuries who required medical assistance. The victim later identified four suspected perpetrators: Anthony Hill Jr., Dekhia Wood, Zykeriya Wilbon, and Diquavious Gray.
The inquiry revealed that the event began when Hill and Wood picked up the victim from a house in Artesia. Hill feigned to have mechanical problems and pulled over while driving down Gilmer Wilburn Road. He and Wood exited the car and unlocked the trunk, where Wilbon and Gray allegedly emerged and commenced a savage attack on the victim.
The woman informed deputies that Wilbon and Gray began beating her, and Hill also participated in the assault. During the event, one of the attackers allegedly yelled, “Go get the pistol,” before the victim passed out. They stole her Apple iPhone, leaving her with a damaged nose, a chipped tooth, and several other injuries.
Hill has been legally charged with robbery, and further charges are expected. Investigators are still looking for Gray, Wilbon, and Wood, according to Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
