Workers cleaning out a garage in Gary, Indiana, discovered the remains of an elderly lady who had been missing for almost three years. The body was discovered on March 28, 2025, on the 2600 block of Jefferson Street, and the Gary Police Department responded. Due to the state of the remains, rapid identification was impossible.

According to officials, the Lake County Coroner took custody of the remains, and Dr. Krista Latham of the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center assisted in identifying the dead as Lisa Wright. Wright, who went missing in September 2021, was the focus of an ongoing inquiry.

The cause of death is still under investigation, and investigators are requesting anyone with information on Wright’s disappearance to come forward. The Gary Police Department’s Investigative Division can be reached at 219-881-1209.
