Over the weekend, tragedy struck when a young woman died in an auto-pedestrian accident on Interstate 240.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol verified that the event occurred yesterday morning near the intersection of W I-240 and S Western Ave.
Officers responded to the site where a vehicle tragically struck a female pedestrian, and a medical examiner arrived shortly after, according to KFOR.
According to additional data supplied by the OHP and later published by OKC FOX, Derek Brown, 22, was driving a 2021 Dodge RAM 2500 eastbound on I-240.
Julissa Duncan, 22, was standing in the center lane when she was hit by the vehicle at 4:42 a.m.
The crash closed eastbound I-240 lanes for about an hour and a half.
The victim, Julissa Duncan of Oklahoma City, has been identified. According to KOCO, the accident occurred around 4:45 a.m., which is consistent with the timeframe provided by other reports. After the emergency services finished their initial investigation and cleanup, the freeway was restored to normal traffic flow.
