U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers recently seized more than $1.5 million in cocaine being brought from Mexico into Laredo, Texas.

The drugs were seized on Sunday at the Colombia Solidarity Bridge after a CBP officer referred a 2006 Utility trailer for secondary inspection, police said Tuesday.

A canine and non-intrusive inspection system examination allegedly revealed 50 parcels carrying almost 114.37 pounds of cocaine inside the trailer, according to the officer.

“Thanks to the vigilance and dedication of our CBP officers, a significant amount of cocaine was intercepted before it reached our communities,” Laredo Port Director Alberto Flores said. “Their commitment to securing the border and disrupting the flow of dangerous narcotics continues to play a vital role in protecting the public and upholding the integrity of our nation’s port of entry.”
