A man from Florida has made his second court appearance in connection with the homicide of a woman and her innocent child. This Monday, the man accused of stabbing his mother and killing his two-year-old son attended a second competency hearing.

A judge previously determined that Thomas Mosley was not able to stand trial, requiring him to spend six months in a state hospital before appearing in court. However, Dr. Theresa L. Ascheman evaluated Mosley and testified that he is fit to stand trial.

Since 2019, Mosley has attempted to take his own life three times, with the most recent attempt in 2023 just before his arrest for the murders. In March 2023, in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mosley allegedly stabbed Pashun Jeffery over one hundred times inside her residence.

Around the same time, Mosley’s two-year-old son, Taylen, was found in a lake near Mosley’s mother’s residence. Authorities stated that evidence indicates Mosley was present at both crime scenes.

During the court appearance, members of Jeffery and Taylen’s family wore t-shirts with photographs of the victims. Dr. Theresa L. Ascheman Jones disclosed in court that Mosley was taking anti-psychotic medication as well as medication for anxiety and depression while at the facility.

Although there were reports of hallucinations, Dr. Ascheman Jones stated that Mosley exhibited a rational disposition and was able to articulate his needs.
