Callaway County law enforcement pronounced a Department of Corrections inmate died.

At 8:55 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, Univeristy Hospital declared Carl Pearson, a 53-year-old inmate, dead. A photo of Pearson was taken at Boone County Jail.

On June 16, an inmate at the Fulton Reception and Diagnostic Center in Callaway County passed away, as confirmed by the facility’s staff.

On Sunday at 8:55 a.m., Carl Pearson, aged 53, passed away at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

According to a press release, he was convicted of forgery in St. Charles County and is currently serving a five-year sentence. He has been in the custody of the Department of Corrections since March 22, 2024.

An autopsy will be conducted to shed more light on Pearson’s death as no further details have been released yet.
