During the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials held in Indianapolis, five talented Hoosiers have already earned their spot to compete in the upcoming Olympic games in Paris.

The Carmel Greyhound Swim Team boasts of two swimmers who have qualified for the Olympics – Alex and Aaron Shackell. Interestingly, their father was also an Olympian who represented Great Britain in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney games. Another member of the team who qualified is Drew Kibler. This will be his second Olympic appearance, having already participated in the previous edition.

Indiana has once again proven its dominance in the swimming arena with the inclusion of Lilly King and Blake Pieroni in the Olympics team. This feat not only showcases their exceptional talent but also ties the record for the most Indiana swimmers on an Olympic team, which was previously set during the 2021 Tokyo Games.

The fourth day of trials kicked off with the preliminary races at 11 a.m. inside Lucas Oil Stadium on Tuesday. The semi-finals for the men’s 100-meter Freestyle, 200-meter Butterfly, 200-meter Backstroke, and women’s 100-meter Freestyle will commence around 8 p.m. Later, the women’s 100-meter Backstroke and men’s 800-meter Freestyle finals will take place.

Indiana has an opportunity to increase the number of swimmers in the Olympic squad by adding a 6th member through the 800-meter Freestyle event. Luke Whitlock, hailing from Noblesville, will be vying for a spot on the team with a win that guarantees his selection. The record-breaking feat could be achieved in 2021.

During the competition, Whitlock showed impressive skills by achieving the fastest preliminary time in the 400-meter freestyle. Despite this, he finished in fifth place in the final.

The U.S. Olympic Swim Trials are currently underway and will continue until Sunday, June 23rd.

WIBC 93.1 FM FM reported that five swimmers from Indiana have already qualified for the Paris Olympic Games.
