According to PEOPLE, Juan Morgan Munoz, 31, has been charged with felony DWI and a fatal accident by the Dallas Police Department. It is possible that there may be additional charges associated with the incident.

According to reports from KDFW and WFAA, the individual in question was transported to Dallas County jail for allegedly fleeing from the location of the deadly collision.

According to reports from KDFW, Munoz notified 911 about the death, but he waited for over 30 minutes after discovering the body, and made the call around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Both news sources report that the driver confessed to hitting the victim in the vicinity of Storey Lane and I-35E. However, instead of stopping to check on the victim, the driver continued on to their workplace, which was about a mile away.

News sources reported that the police arrived at Maaco Auto Body Shop, where Munoz worked, in response to his call. Upon further investigation, they discovered a damaged front passenger windshield and a complete arm on the seat. Blood was also found at the scene.

According to local news stations, a warrant was issued for his arrest citing his “glassy/watery eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.”

WFAA reported that Munoz’s breathalyzer test indicated a blood alcohol content of .179, which is over twice the legal limit.

According to the police, Munoz admitted to having consumed a single Patron shot earlier in the day and had been on his way to work after leaving a Hooters in Grand Prairie. It was reported by WFAA that he was unable to pass any of the field sobriety tests administered to him.

According to a report from WFAA, Munoz purportedly confessed to having cocaine in his system before being incarcerated.

The identity of the individual who lost their life on the pavement has not been disclosed.
