Suspect’s Paranoia and Mental Health Issues Probed After Deadly Attack

True Crime News reports that a tragic incident occurred at a splash pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan where a man named Michael Nash, 42, opened fire on families who were enjoying a summer day. The shooting left at least nine people injured, including an 8-year-old boy who was shot in the head. Fortunately, the young boy is now showing signs of recovery. The victims, ranging from a 4-year-old child to a 76-year-old, include a family of three who are still in the hospital. Sadly, Nash later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon searching Nash’s residence, authorities discovered a total of 11 firearms. Additionally, they are currently examining his electronic devices to gain insight into the motivation behind his attack. According to Nash’s family, he frequently expressed concerns about government surveillance and exhibited peculiar behavior, but had no prior criminal history. Sheriff Michael Bouchard has suggested that Nash’s mental health issues may have been a contributing factor to the shooting, although a definitive motive has yet to be determined.
