TOLEDO, Ohio — A suspect managed to escape police custody at Mercy Health’s St. Vincent Medical Center on Monday night, according to Toledo police.

The incident occurred when a 36-year-old man from east Toledo, who was initially detained on a misdemeanor domestic violence warrant on June 24, was being medically cleared at the hospital before being processed for jail booking. While supervised by two TPD officers, the man, under the care of a nurse, escaped around 9:30 p.m. by fleeing on foot from the restroom.

Despite efforts by police, the suspect successfully evaded capture after leaving the hospital premises. An escape warrant has now been issued for his apprehension.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. Reports can be made anonymously, and there is a possibility of a reward.
