In April, a 10-year-old boy passed away and now the cause of his death has been revealed.

On Saturday evening, authorities arrested an Indiana foster mother who was wanted in connection with the death of a 10-year-old boy. The arrest took place in Michigan.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jennifer Wilson, aged 48, was taken into custody at around 8:18 p.m. on N Thompson Street, close to Buffalo Street, in New Buffalo. She was charged with reckless homicide.

On Friday, a warrant for her arrest was issued, and this news follows.

On April 25, authorities received a call regarding a medical emergency at a residence located in the 200 block of Falcon Way in Liberty Township. It is this incident that led to her being charged with homicide.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the officers discovered Dakota Stevens, who is just 10 years old, and promptly took him to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

The St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Stevens passed away due to “mechanical asphyxia” just two days after the incident.

Officials have confirmed that Stevens was in foster care at the time of his death, which was ruled a homicide.

The sheriff’s office successfully located Wilson by utilizing a license plate reader, enabling the deputy to track down her vehicle.

As this story continues to develop, we will provide you with timely updates as they become available. Stay tuned for more information.
