Several private citizens are suing CenterPoint Energy for loss, pain, and suffering during and after Hurricane Beryl. New details are emerging in the aftermath of the storm.

The story is a common one that has been circulating since the days of Beryl – power outages leading to the unfortunate disposal of spoiled food. Recently, three individuals have taken legal action by filing a lawsuit spanning over 30 pages, seeking a refund from CenterPoint.

According to the lawsuit, CenterPoint neglected to ready their grid for an anticipated weather occurrence and has shirked responsibility for the resulting system breakdown. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that CenterPoint did not adequately maintain their lines and equipment, nor did they make sufficient investments in infrastructure.

According to the plaintiffs in the CenterPoint lawsuit, they were left without power for over 80 hours, which resulted in significant losses, including all the food in their refrigerators and freezers. They are seeking reimbursement from CenterPoint for the damages caused by the power outage.

According to the lawsuit, CenterPoint Energy made over $6.5 billion in profits last year, while the average income for a Houston resident is around $50,000 annually.

The company’s outstanding success, worth billions of dollars, is attributed to its loyal customers. As a token of appreciation, the company has decided to restock refrigerators in Houston.
