From Friday, August 9th to Sunday, August 11th, taxpayers are being urged to make the most of this year’s tax-free weekend.

This weekend is the perfect time to shop for clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks as you can purchase them without having to pay sales tax. The best part is that this offer applies to items that are under $100, making it an incredible opportunity to save some money.

To be eligible, the purchases must originate from either a physical or virtual store located in Texas, or from a catalog seller conducting business in Texas.

During the sales tax holiday, you can purchase qualifying items tax-free without having to provide the seller with an exemption certificate. It’s important to note that this exemption only applies to the items that meet the qualifying criteria.

    • Items sold for $100 or more
    • Clothing subscription boxes
    • Specially designed athletic activity or protective-use clothing or footwear
    • Clothing or footwear rentals, alterations (including embroidery), and cleaning services
    • Items used to make or repair clothing, such as fabric, thread, yarn, buttons, snaps, hooks, and zippers
    • Jewelry, handbags, purses, briefcases, luggage, umbrellas, wallets, watches, and other accessories
    • Athletic, duffle or gym bags
